At the time of writing this post, this restaurant is new to the Glasgow food scene. I saw all the promotion on Facebook, and I thought I need to visit this when it opens.

I decided not to go as soon as it opened as it would probably be mega busy, so I left it for about two weeks.

Prior to going I had a look at the menu, and spotted a few dishes that I would like to try so I knew that when I go I would have to have at least 4 dishes.

This is in a great spot, and going by the prices on the menu its perfect for students or if you just want to order small dishes.

First Impression :

On entering you are hit with vivid colours, lots of bamboo and very friendly staff. I really liked the look of this place, and couldn’t wait to see where my table was.

The walls all were painted very colourful, and some had some very cool artwork this gave the place a very funky and modern look.

While we waited for a few other people to arrive, I sat at the bar and had a talk to the bar staff. Behind the bar staff on the wall, there was a vast selection of drinks so I knew that the cocktails should be good…but I had to try some to see if I was correct or not.

Cocktail Time….

The first cocktail I had was :

Sango Island £7.00
Jinro Soju, Lejay Blue Curaçao, Luxardo Maraschino, Pineapple Juice , Coconut

This cocktail sounded nice, and sounded like it would be sweet…well to me it did so I thought lets get it. It was a very nice cocktail, and one that was easy to drink. It wasn’t as sweet as I thought, more a nice balance with a very very slight sour taste at the end.

It would be rude to just have the one cocktail….

My second cocktail was :

Melon Bei £7.00
Midori, Koskenkorva Vodka, Lejay Triple Sec, Lime Juice, Sugar Syrup

Now this was actually recommended to me by the bar staff, as I told them I had a very sweet tooth so they had a lot to live up to with this recommendation….

Was it sweet enough for me?…

This was AMAZING!!!!!!!! perfect taste, just sweet enough and very easy to drink!!! This is what I will be having again when I return!!!! if you like a sweet cocktail, then when you visit here order this you wont be disapointed.

The Food…

Salt & Pepper Squid £5.50
Chinese style crispy fried squid, chopped spring onion and pepper, sweet chilli sauce

I love this when I get a Chinese, so I thought lets see how they do it here.

It was nice, the squid was in a nice not too crispy batter and the peppers added nice flavour.

My only issue but this could be a personal thing, it wasn’t that salty, normally you get a nice salty and crispy taste but it was more flavoured and less salty….well to me it was.

Tteok-bokki £4.95
(vgn) Korean rice cake, sweet & spicy

When this arrived it looked and smelled really nice.

OH MY GOD!!!! for me this was MEGA spicy, and that was with just one piece. To be honest it was really nice flavour, but WAY too spicy for me so I gave it to my friend who has a better spice threshold than me.

Gyoza £5.95
Handmade crispy pork dumplings, soy sauce

These looked so good so I couldn’t wait to try them.

Yup these were really nice, and the dipping sauce added that nice little extra flavour to them. I could have had more of these.

The little dumplings were perfectly cooked, and the pork was nice and full of flavour.

Korean Tacos £5.95
3 soft corn tacos, spicy Korean beef, Asian salsa, coriander, Chinese chives

I like tacos, so when I saw Korean Tacos I had to try them and see what they were like.

On arrival I could smell the beef which was amazing, and it looked really good.

These were very very good, and very filling but yup you guessed it I could have had another one.

This is another dish I would have again when I come back.

I had not been here for a while, and I promised Lychee I would go back so today I did.

This is my favourite Chinese restaurant in Glasgow, every time I visit the staff are always very pleasant and the food is always AMAZING (even if I mostly get the same dish every time)

For me this restaurant has a modern feel, and a very relaxing atmosphere.

The Food :

Chilli ‘n’ Salt Chicken Wings £4.70

I am not someone that likes things too spicy so I was a little worried at how these would be.

These were perfect for me, there was a lot of flavour and just and no more hints of chilli so phew I was happy with my decision today.

Crispy Shredded Sweet ‘n’ Chilli Chicken £13.50 plus Rice £2.80

OK OK OK, yes I know I order this every time I go in, and I am sure Jimmy if your reading this your nodding your head and agreeing and laughing.

What can I say if you like this dish or sweet n sour chicken you will LOVE this. Its packed full of flavour, its presented nicely and its very very moreish.

Lychee has always been a favourite of mine when it comes to Chinese food, its got that modern yet classy look and also a very relaxing atmosphere inside. Anytime I have been there the staff has always been nice, and very attentive.

I have tried a few places in town but for quality, flavour and cost the Lychee for me is always a winner, even my friend says that and he also has tried a few places.

The Lychee has won a few awards, see below to name a few:

Normally I always order the Prawn Toast, as I know I like it and its a safe option for me but since I am blogging I cant keep reviewing the same food all the time.

So today I decided to try the Vietnamese King Prawn Rolls, and I am very glad I did.

Vietnamese King Prawn Rolls £5.60

This is very very nice, and now my new favourite starter!

The portion size for me was perfect, as I know my main is large and very filling. The rolls were full of flavour, and using the soy dip just added that little extra flavour .

Ok so I am always drawn to this dish and I promise the next time I visit Lychee I will have something different, but this dish for me is the best!

Loaded with flavour, nice and tender and very filling and tasty. The presentation is great, as it comes in a hard noodle basket that yes you can eat if you wish but the chicken and the rice are more than enough for me.

Crispy Shredded Sweet ’n’ Chilli Chicken £13.50

Lychee Daiquiri £5.90

Yes I know its not really a dessert but it was my last course….so technically a dessert.

This was Lychee’s special cocktail, and as you can see from the photo its nicely presented.

The cocktail was very nice and refreshing, and the cost about the same as other restaurants around Glasgow.

Overall :

Overall again just like every time I come here, I cant fault any of it. I don’t give out very many 5/5 reviews but here every visit has been that.

I would like to try a few more dishes (starters and mains), so my next visit I will order something different….I promise.

If your looking for good quality food, then here is a must! please do check it out I promise you wont regret trying here.
